Programs with extra requirements

For students applying in fall 2026, entering fall 2027

You apply to UT with a first-choice major. Some colleges ask for more:

  • Tickle College of Engineering. Admission uses your core GPA and test scores: a Success Prediction Indicator of at least 60 and an ACT math score of 25 or SAT math of 590. Students below the test-score criteria get a holistic review, and the class may be limited by space.
  • College of Nursing. Test scores are required, and you must mark Nursing as your first-choice major to be considered for direct entry.
  • Natalie L. Haslam College of Music. Depending on the concentration you choose, you may need to audition, interview or both.
  • College of Architecture and Design. A portfolio of your artwork is recommended but not required. Faculty of the School of Architecture or School of Interior Architecture decide admission.

Students who do not meet the engineering criteria can start as University Exploratory students and apply to the college again later.
